SAVE THE WORLD WITH A KLEAN KANTEEN WATER BOTTLE

While water bottle tech may not be an issue that sits at the forefront of most of our brains, it’s true that all of us feel some sort of affinity for the unique and beautiful landscapes we experience.
Pollution in the form of plastic waste is one of the major threats to our terrestrial and marine ecosystems, and one small way we can all make a difference is to stop introducing plastic waste to the places we visit and to start using a reusable water bottle.
Klean Kanteen has been in the biz of building eco-friendly beverage containers for over a decade, and their environmental crusade was up and running well before the impacts of single use plastic bottles had made their way into the public eye.
Constructed from dependable 18/8 stainless steel, the Klean Kanteen Insulated Classic Water Bottle is fitted with vacuum insulation tech that can keep liquid hot for 12 hours and cold for twenty-four hours.
Available in four sizes and a range of colours, a Klean Kanteen water bottle is a simple way to make a big difference with a small outlay.

LANDCRUISER 70 SERIES BARES KNUCKLES

Toyota’s gutsy 70 Series LandCruiser range comes standard with bucketloads of offroad cred, and following the news that Toyota’s Australian engineers have subjected the upcoming 70 Series upgrade to more than 100,000km of testing in some of the harshest conditions around the country, the range’s tough rep is only set to grow.
Around 70 percent of the testing was conducted in offroad conditions, covering everything from corrugated dirt roads to rugged cattle properties with severe washouts.
The rigorous testing regime, which focused on the popular single cab ute, has confirmed the new vehicle will be even stronger due to the adoption of a stiffer new frame with thicker side rails, reducing vibration and improving handling.
The engineering team have tuned new safety features including stability and traction control for optimum performance on dirt roads, country highways and rural properties.
All the 70 Series variants – single and double cab-chassis, wagon and troop carrier – will be equipped with these safety features as well as
hill-start assist control, trailer sway control, brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, and cruise control.
The single cab is expected to attract the maximum five-star safety rating with five airbags, including curtain-shield airbags and a driver’s knee airbag in addition to the existing driver and front-passenger airbags.

Toby Price is the King of the Desert

Australia’s own Dakar legend Toby Price has retained his ‘King of the Desert’ title in a record-breaking Finke Desert Race outcome.
Price finished 1st outright in the bike & quad division as well as 2nd outright in the car & buggy division at the Northern Territory’s iconic Finke Desert Race over the June long weekend.
Price competed in what has been called the ‘ironman’ division, and took out 1st and 2nd in the two divisions he competed in. Trackside bystanders were amazed when the now five-time bike champ of the event recorded a lap time in his ARB trophy truck that bettered (by one minute) the time of his event winning bike lap.

ARB’S ALL NEW TYRE MONITORING SYSTEM

Always with a finger on the pulse of the Aussie offroad community’s needs, ARB have come to the table with a simple, user-friendly tyre monitoring system that is available in both internal and external kits.
The system is available as a DIY external sensor kit, as well as an internal valve replacement kit. Both systems feature a 12V socket-mounted display that’s compact and easy to read.
As well as displaying the pressures of all four tyres in real time, the monitor instantly detects punctures or excess temperatures, which could lead to problems. Once potential hazards are detected, the monitor delivers visual and audible warnings to alert the driver and reduce the possibility of an accident occurring.
Utilising the vehicle’s 12V socket, the monitor also includes a USB output which allows you to charge devices such as mobile phones and GPS units, without having to remove the tyre pressure monitor from the socket.

ULTIMATE ESCAPE HAND OVER

Back in February the winner of the 4WD Touring Australia Ultimate Escape promotion was drawn, and the prize couldn’t have gone to a better bloke.
Grant Lawler is a family man who works for a non-profit housing organisation and he couldn’t believe his luck when first notified of his big win.
With the paperwork and formalities finished up and out of the way, Carlisle made his way up to the mid north coast of NSW in late March to drop off Grant’s prize to his home in Port Macquarie.
As you can see, Grant is absolutely stoked with his new rig and had this to say when we interviewed him following his big win: “This is the best prize I’ve ever won, it’s still sinking in. I’d really like to extend my sincere thanks to Carlisle and the whole team for making my dream a reality, and to your awesome sponsors for getting this competition off the ground.
“As a long time reader of the mag I’ve got plenty of inspiration for getaway destinations, I can’t wait to get out there and see them all!”

INTRODUCING THE BFG ALL TERRAIN T/A KO2

The company that produced the first all terrain tyre way back in 1976, have now launched their latest and toughest all terrain tyre ever – the T/A KO2.
Toughness, durability and traction are the qualities that really matter when it comes to designing a good all terrain tyre. They have to live up to their name and function perfectly in all conditions – from the highway to the beach to the bush.
BFGoodrich’s offroad motor racing connections allow them the greatest testing grounds imaginable to hone their designs before they’re mass-produced for the public.
These new T/A KO2 tyres made their way through the proving grounds of Australia’s toughest offroad rallies before being made available to non-competitive 4WDers around the country.
The KO2 all terrain is a tyre designed for superior traction in sand, mud, gravel and snow, while still functioning well on the highway.
Head online to check out the full range of BFG all terrain and mud terrain tyres at www.bfgoodrich.com.au.
