If you need further proof the 4WD, AWD, SUV AND LT sector is booming, then check out a couple of recent stats from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI).
According to Tony Weber from the FCAI, “Small and medium SUVs showed large growth, increasing 17.7 and 19.3 per cent, respectively, on November 2013 sales figures.”
While the SUV market has grown to approximately 1/3 of all new vehicles sold in Australia, the growth in the light commercial segment has also boomed, and with mining companies scaling back their fleet purchases, this particular trend is now being led by private purchasers.
Taking a single sample month from last year (June), there were four light commercial vehicles included in the nation’s top ten vehicle sales. These were the Toyota Hilux (4,276 sales), Mitsubishi Triton (4,124), Ford Ranger (3,214), Nissan Navara (2,262) and Holden Colorado (2,241).
